Resources on the topic of fibromyalgia
Books, podcast & more …
Here you will find my personal recommendations for reading and listening – books, podcasts and more about living with fibromyalgia.
Why English?
Due to my fibromyalgia coaching training at the IFCI (International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute) in the USA, I generally read and follow English-language resources. If there is a German translation, I will link both the original English edition and the German version for you.
Here I present a selection of books and other resources that I personally find interesting and helpful. If you would like to learn more about useful methods and approaches that can help you deal with your fibromyalgia, please consult them.
In my 1:1 Fibromyalgia Program, I will be happy to help you filter out which of the methods mentioned could be useful for YOU.
Which books do you find useful? Feel free to share them with me via email.

“The Fibromyalgia Handbook”
by Dr. Ginevra Liptan
Dr. Ginevra Liptan’s book is considered the “bible” and classic among books on the subject of fibromyalgia. Dr. Liptan is an American doctor who specializes in the treatment of fibromyalgia.
In her book, she provides a comprehensive overview of fibromyalgia and a detailed treatment plan aimed at helping patients alleviate their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Ginevra’s approach is based on both her professional expertise as a physician and her personal experience with fibromyalgia, making the book a valuable resource for patients and their physicians. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia during her studies and has experienced first-hand what it is like to live with the condition.
The book covers various aspects of coping with illness, including diet, exercise, medication and stress management techniques.
I have read both the English and German editions. Although the English version is better written, in the German edition the translating publisher has made some specific German references that I think are helpful for someone living in Germany. I therefore recommend the German edition if you are in Germany.

“The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma“
by Bessel van der Kolk
This is a very well-known work in the field of trauma research and treatment. It examines how traumatic experiences are stored in the body and brain and how these experiences can have long-term effects on physical and psychological well-being.
Van der Kolk, a leading expert in the field of trauma therapy, explains in the book how trauma not only leaves psychological traces, but can also have a deep impact on the body. He describes various treatment methods that can help to process and heal these traumas, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), yoga and other body-oriented therapies.
The book is appreciated by both professionals and patients because it is written in an understandable way and offers deep insights into the mechanisms of trauma and healing.
The content is not relevant for every fibromyalgia person, and the examples are not always easy to read. But for people who have dealt with trauma in childhood or adulthood, it can be a valuable, perhaps even eye-opening, resource.
